PROJECT SUMMARY

The Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility (TAEM) is a collaboration of Middle Tennessee non-profits and agencies who work together to ensure families increase economically self-sufficient by achieving outcomes in education, employment, income, and stability. The upcoming pilot, funded by a one-year TDHS contract, provides additional support to 200 families who will be rolling over from an expiring four-year contract that was designed to help families increase stability, advance economically, and move past benefit cliffs.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Education and Employment Manager leads the implementation of policies and practices that support educational and employment opportunities for participants of the Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility. This role works closely with families to assist with education, training, and employment needs. Grounded in equity and best practices, the Education and Employment Manager plays a key role in scaling an integrated model that strengthens families and drives systems-level impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Works on a one-on-one basis with participants who are ready and willing to take advantage of educational and employment opportunities, assessing and connecting the skills and experiences of participants with appropriate opportunities.
• Oversees and maintains education and employment data in Salesforce.
• Arranges regular hours on campus and accompanies participants when seeking to return to or attend postsecondary for the first time, assist with applications, paperwork, and financial aid.
• Provides navigation support, connection to on-site resources, and wraparound services so that TAEM participants have the support they need to complete a degree or industry-recognized credential.
• Develops awareness of employment opportunities and alternative training options.
• Prepares and facilitates sessions that integrate core educational supports and cognitive skills development, as well as critical skills in communication, resilience, and conflict management.
• Maintains meaningful relationships with known and prospective employers and education and training partners.
• Utilizes data systems and analysis to improve and adapt programming, and to make informed decisions and improve family interactions and supports.
• Participates in Care Coordination sessions that include the Family-Centered Coach, helping build a team of support that surrounds each family and guides them towards their self-identified goals.
• Develops expertise in partner city and county environments and cultures to make informed decisions about how best to execute policies and procedures in regard to education and employment opportunities.
• Collaborates with other TAEM backbone team members and partners to continue to strengthen the TAEM model.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in fields of Human or Social Services or related field

• Three or more years of experience working directly with vulnerable families and young children
• Non-profit experience preferred
• Training in trauma-informed care, family-centered coaching, conscious discipline preferred

• Regular regional travel within Middle Tennessee (up to 60%).
