This role serves as a quality inspector in an aerospace and military defense machine shop, focusing on the inspection of precision-machined parts using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet stringent quality and blueprint requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming parts and components in a receiving inspector capacity to ensure they meet aerospace and military defense quality standards.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall part conformity.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to confirm that parts meet specified requirements.
  • Document inspection results accurately and clearly using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the dedicated quality department and other departments in the machine shop to resolve quality issues and ensure consistent standards.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to clarify requirements, report nonconformances, and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and follow established quality control procedures throughout the inspection process.
  • Support the small team environment by sharing knowledge, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a positive, collaborative workplace.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience as a quality inspector in an aerospace company.
  • Hands-on experience working in an aerospace or military defense machine shop environment.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools for part inspection.
  • Strong quality control and inspection skills, including the ability to identify defects and nonconformances.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email, for communication and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally across multiple departments.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team player within a small team of approximately 68 people.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting components for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Familiarity with structured quality control processes and procedures in a machine shop setting.
  • Comfort working in a dedicated quality department while coordinating closely with production and other functions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when recording inspection data and communicating results.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
