Please follow these steps: Step One, Step Two Overview & Purpose Supervisor - Transportation Vehicle Shop Purpose Statement The job of Supervisor - Transportation Vehicle Shop is done for the purpose of ensuring the availability of vehicles in safe operating condition, including determining needed repairs and/or assisting with replacement projects on district vehicles; overseeing required repairs and preventive maintenance; providing written documentation and reports to meet district, state and federal requirements. Essential Functions Ensure fleet readiness with an average of 90%, ensuring fleet is safe and within state and local standards at all times Oversee lead technician to diagnose, prioritize and dispatch repairs to best-suited technicians Open and close work orders as repairs are completed, with accurate time and parts accounted for Coordinate DPS inspections for school buses and DOT inspections for White fleet vehicles as required Execute and maintain a preventive maintenance and safety inspection program with 95% on-time inspections Maintain tools, equipment and shop area to ensure availability and safe operation Track and coordinate bulk fuel program, emission-testing program, oil sampling program, and emissions compliance for fleet Prepare purchase orders and track available balances for each vendor Oversee all work to ensure quality and efficiency of repairs Track and report KPIs on tech efficiency, workload, unit down, fuel levels, fuel usage, tire management and other reports Oversee parts department, ensuring proper inventory on hand, minimal obsolescence, and accurate inventory; purchases made per district guidelines at the lowest feasible prices Oversee upholstery repairs for fleet Orchestrate road calls regarding accidents or disabled vehicles for emergency repair work or towing decisions Supervise Lead technicians, Technician 1 and Technician 2 Arrange training classes for technicians when needed or available; ensure shop safety and OSHA requirements are met Other Functions Assist technicians as needed to complete difficult tasks Assist other personnel as required to support their work Perform personnel functions (e.g., evaluating) to ensure department functions are efficient and concerns addressed Perform other duties as assigned Job Requirements Mental Requirements — Learning Development: Level D; specialized vocational or technical knowledge for technical, administrative, and/or operative practices Problem Solving — Level 3; work requires interpretation and evaluation; highly technical judgments and alternative solutions are required Physical Requirements Physical Skill — Level A: basic physical skill required Physical Effort — Level 1: minimal exertion; most time sitting with occasional lifting Social Requirements — Human Relations Skill: Level B; strong verbal skills to convey technical information Scope of Contacts — Level 2; contacts with peers and customers; intermittent contact with higher authorities Work Environment Performance Environment: Level B; occasional changes in work conditions; occasional skill upgrades Physical Working Conditions: Level 1; generally good conditions; minimal exposure to health/safety hazards Accountability — Level D; supervision of output, safety, training and morale; first-line supervisory work Organizational Impact — Level 2; work results impact downstream results and public service Experience, Education, and Certifications Experience: Job-related experience within the specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility Education: High school diploma or equivalent Certifications/Clearances: Annual Alcohol and Drug Test; Pre-employment Medical Exam; valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card; Bus Driver's Certificate Commercial Driver's License, Class B with passenger and school bus endorsement; CPR Certificate; D & A reasonable suspicion Certificate; 609 Refrigerant Recycling and Procedure Certificate Compensation Details FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Schedule: Salary - E123 Work Calendar: 12 Month Long Discrimination & Notices Non Discrimination Statement Gilbert Unified School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex, pregnancy and related conditions, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, age (over 40), parental status, or disability in admission to its programs, services, or activities, in access to them, in treatment of individuals, or in any aspect of their operations.
