Base Pay $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 / Year Job Category Pending Contract Award Employee Type Full Time Exempt SABG is hiring a GIS Analyst to support Engineering Support Services for the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado Springs, Colorado. Travel: Minimal to none. This position is performed on-site at Schriever Space Force Base. This position is contingent upon contract award.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide non-personal GIS support for the coordination, development, and management of high-quality, cost-effective Geographic Information Systems (GIS) files. The specialist will provide and maintain current and historic infrastructure information to support the planning, design, construction, and management of installation facilities and engineering records. Serve as a specialist for geospatial data, responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the databases, applications, and tools necessary for architectural, engineering, and base management practices. Perform work related to the creation and revision of existing maps, charts, and related cartographic products, including investigation of source materials, assembling aerial photographs, drafting, digitizing, and editing geospatial data. Use computerized systems to display and analyze geographic data to support decisions related to geology, ecology, land use, demographics, transportation, and other domains related to the Air Force Base Comprehensive Plan. Update, coordinate, and implement CADD/GIS data such as maps, real estate, and engineering data, and provide advice on techniques and tools available for solving CADD/GIS-related technical problems. Update and maintain essential CADD/GIS databases, such as utilities, floor plans, and real property, weekly as changes occur. Produce custom maps and cartographic products from geospatial data to support mission requirements weekly. Digitize, edit, and review new or revised geospatial data for inclusion in the enterprise GIS weekly. Perform quality control checks on all geospatial data weekly to ensure compliance with data standards. Provide technical support and instruction to users on new GIS tools and facility management procedures as directed by the Government’s authorized representative.

SUPERVISION:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree in science; or at least 2 years of experience in a technical field. Extensive knowledge of geospatial concepts, theories, principles, and practices, including a basic understanding of cartography, remote sensing, and scientific data visualization. Knowledge of digital geospatial processes and products, including data production, management, archival, and maintenance processing in accordance with applicable standards such as the Spatial Data Transfer Standard (SDS) and Federal Geographic Data Committee standards. Skill in planning, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art mapping systems for use by installation organizations. Ability to review and evaluate existing facility management systems and provide instruction on new state-of-the-art engineering and geospatial procedures.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Skills in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment. Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Proficiency with GIS software, CADD/GIS databases, and cartographic production tools.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret geospatial data standards and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and technical documentation related to geospatial data products. Ability to effectively present mapping products and respond to questions from installation organizations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, including geospatial measurement and scale conversions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound business decisions based on that data.
