Job Opportunity – Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in acute stroke care, neurosurgery, and critical neurological conditions
• Patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census periods
• Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit
• Epic charting system with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Contract lengths from 13+ weeks available, with orientation of 24 hours over 2 shifts
• No on-call requirement; floating within facility as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (strong neurological critical care background essential)
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Proficiency in Epic charting system required
• Core competencies: ventilator management, IV insertion, neuro assessment, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, lumbar drain experience, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Arterial line management experience preferred
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
