Essential Functions: Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility Ensures the safety of students Implements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment. Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom Maintains accurate and complete records as required Assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education Maintains respect for confidential information Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed Design clear and specific learning assessments. Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner. Maintain a positive school community image that encourages ethical student behavior. Maintain ongoing communication with parents Other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or Superintendent Other Duties and Responsibilities: Active Special Education Teaching Certification (165) CDE required Experience working with students with autism preferred IEP data collection knowledge Working knowledge of CT-SEDs, preferred Elementary school special education experience preferred Qualifications/Certificates: Bachelor's Degree required.
