Climate & Health Intern - Sunrise Corridor Heat Mitigation Project

The intern will support the Public Health Division’s Built and Natural Environment Analyst in implementing a climate adaptation project within the Sunrise Corridor Community study area. This area experiences high heat and poor air quality compared to surrounding regions. The project focuses on distributing cooling devices and providing heat education to vulnerable community members, and will advance the Climate & Health Adaptation Plan by mitigating health risks related to extreme heat and poor air quality in the Sunrise Corridor area. Duties Finalize cooling device selection criteria and create intake form Develop and distribute educational materials on heat risks Create outreach plan and communication materials Support coordination of cooling device ordering and installation Learning objectives Through this internship, the intern will gain experience in: Public health data and mapping resources Project coordination Community engagement Applying public health strategies to reduce environmental health risks Qualifications Interest in environmental justice and/or climate & health Self-starter, organized, and motivated Able to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and project management skills Schedule and location Hours: Approximately 200 total (10–20 hours/week) Flexible; alternating between in-person and remote work In-person work will occur at Clackamas County Public Health Division’s (CCPHD) offices at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City #J-18808-Ljbffr Oregon Health & Science University
