Summary

Bioprocessing Product Manager / Product Manager Life Sciences is responsible for driving business success through proactive product lifecycle management, product development, portfolio expansion, and commercialization strategies. Acts as the central interface for developing and executing global portfolio strategies in collaboration with R&D, Sales, Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Leads the assigned product portfolio from market assessment and innovation through product development, launch, lifecycle management, pricing, forecasting, and ongoing performance optimization. Provides technical, business, and regulatory support while ensuring products meet customer needs, market requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.

Responsibilities

Product Line Strategy

  • Manage the complete lifecycle and value chain of the assigned product portfolio, including market, competitive, customer, and application intelligence.
  • Develop and execute portfolio lifecycle and innovation strategies aligned with market needs and business objectives.
  • Identify unmet customer needs and opportunities for new products, services, technologies, and intellectual property.
  • Lead customer and market insight activities to identify current and future customer requirements.
  • Lead new product development programs, including business case development and stage-gate processes.
  • Develop product specifications, use cases, beta testing programs, and launch plans.
  • Drive products from development through commercialization.
  • Develop and manage product pricing strategies.
  • Develop pricing, positioning, and channel strategies across global regions and market segments.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Strategy, Operations, and other stakeholders to deliver customer, revenue, volume, and profitability objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve products, services, margins, and overall business value.

Sales & Operations Planning and Performance Insights

  • Drive the product forecasting process and connect sales forecasts with production requirements.
  • Forecast new products and manage inventory requirements.
  • Address demand exceptions and support prioritization during supply constraints.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against revenue, volume, and margin targets.
  • Identify performance concerns and recommend or escalate required adjustments.
  • Monitor product performance at the customer level to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Provide regular portfolio performance reports to business leadership.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the assigned portfolio and communicate developments and opportunities to Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders.
  • Support business strategy and go-to-market planning through portfolio performance insights.

Marketing Planning

  • Support development of comprehensive marketing plans for the assigned portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Marketing leadership to develop portfolio positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Support global marketing campaigns designed to drive portfolio growth.
  • Provide technical and product input for marketing materials, campaigns, and public relations content.
  • Ensure product messaging appropriately reflects technical capabilities, customer needs, and market positioning.

Product Sales & Support

  • Build technical awareness within appropriate departments to enable timely resolution of routine customer concerns.
  • Provide second-line support for non-routine technical, business, and regulatory questions.
  • Support Sales and Service teams through customer visits, regular communication, and regional/global sales meetings.
  • Provide technical and regulatory guidance to Sales and Service representatives.
  • Drive training for Sales and Service teams on technical, product, and regulatory aspects of the assigned portfolio.
  • Coordinate responses to complex customer requirements and technical inquiries.

Safety & Compliance

  • Manage applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements associated with the assigned portfolio and production sites.
  • Support compliance with applicable regulatory and quality management requirements.
  • Participate in Deviation Review Board meetings.
  • Support Change Control activities and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) driven by Quality.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing on customer communications related to quality, safety, regulatory matters, and product positioning.
  • Ensure portfolio activities remain aligned with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.

Required Skills

  • Experience in product management, portfolio management, product development, commercialization, or a related life sciences/business function.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and portfolio strategy.
