Experienced Associate- Sales/Use Tax

Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Sales/Use Associate to join our growing State & Local Tax (SALT) practice in Texas. The role involves helping clients capitalize on strategic ideas and planning techniques that ensure state and local tax compliance, reduce expenses and enhance cash flow. Responsibilities Identify sales and use tax savings opportunities for multi‑state clients. Direct staff in day‑to‑day operations, including preparing correspondence and performing data reconciliations. Make taxability decisions and prepare tax authority filings. Meet with clients and/or taxing authorities to discuss tax issues. Prepare state and local sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions. Research relevant tax law and analyze large amounts of client data. Maintain internal relationships with colleagues, other service lines, and engagement/project teams. Develop and retain technical tax expertise and proactively communicate issues as they arise. Support the firm’s policies, procedures, and learning and development programs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related math field. Minimum (1) year(s) experience in public accounting or industry completing and reconciling multi‑state sales and use tax returns and performing research on taxability law. Demonstrated skills in time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving. Strong leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills with initiative and adaptability. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Compensation & Benefits Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Pay rate ranges (TX): Dallas & Frisco: $73,730 to $96,780 Houston: $77,240 to $101,390 Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
