Custodial: Under general supervision, performs cleaning tasks and operation of various types of cleaning equipment to care for and maintain assigned buildings and related facilities; performs related work as required. Maintenance: Performs a variety of semiskilled building maintenance and repair work based upon prior experience. Must have knowledge of general tools, their care, construction and use. Knowledge of materials, methods and practices involved in building maintenance and repair, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting; safe work practices; estimating materials and labor needs.

DUTIES OF THE JOB (MAJOR AND MINOR TASKS):

Custodial: Sweeps and mops floors; vacuums, strips and polishes floors with floor machine as needed; helps set up multipurpose room and courtyard for functions; may move furniture when cleaning classrooms; cleans windows and doors; cleans restrooms; replaces restroom products and supplies; monitors daytime/evening activities and campus security; alarms and de-alarms buildings as necessary. Maintenance: Depending on experience in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, may perform tasks such as assembling furniture, assisting with inventory, minor electrical and plumbing repairs that do not require outside contractors. Performs any other tasks as assigned by the Principal. GENERAL SKILLS: Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions; cleaning and caring for assigned areas and equipment; working knowledge of the operation of the tools, materials and equipment provided; setting work priorities; working independently in the absence of supervision; punctual and reliable; establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships; ability to lift heavy items in a safe manner.
