About the Position

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current Registered Nurse licensure Certifications: American Heart Association BLS; STABLE certification within two years of hire; Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification required, recertification required every two years Must-Have: Must be able to catch/transition nurse Must be able to act as Charge Nurse Must be willing to float to other departments as a safety companion Labor and Delivery experience (antepartum, intrapartum, preop, circulate, PACU) preferred Description: The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative relationship with other members of the healthcare team. Plans and implements patient and family education. Responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate interventions for patients. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Certifications in BLS and neonatal resuscitation are essential. Competence in and willingness to practice modified primary nursing is necessary. Collects comprehensive data pertinent to patients' health or situations. Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation. Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. Implements the identified plan of care. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice systematically. Attains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice. Evaluates nursing practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. Collaborates with patients, families, and others in nursing practice. Reaching above shoulder level and using upper extremities for pushing/pulling. Fine-finger movements are essential for tasks like typing. Close visual acuity is necessary for preparing and analyzing data. Cognitive skills to learn new tasks, remember processes, and maintain focus. Exposures to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and infectious diseases may occur. Emotionally challenging situations may arise, requiring professional handling. Regular attendance and the ability to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and after-hours shifts, are required. On-call work may be necessary to respond to organizational or patient needs.
