As a Senior AI Engineer, your role will be instrumental in harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to redefine learning experiences in our community based, AI-native education platform. Your core responsibility will be designing, developing, and fine-tuning the AI models that underpin our platform, delivering personalized and interactive educational resources to our diverse user base. You will collaborate closely with our software engineering team, product managers, and external academic partners to understand their requirements and turn them into practical AI solutions. Your expertise in machine learning, AI infrastructure, and MLOps will be essential in building a robust, efficient, and scalable AI backend. Your role will also include working on retrieval-augmented generation infrastructure and prompt engineering tasks, and you will contribute significantly to the establishment and maintenance of best practices for MLOps in our team. As a founding member of our team, your input will not only shape our AI systems, but also influence the direction and culture of our engineering team. This is a hybrid role and can accommodate both remote and in-office work.

Example deliverables

• Develop, maintain, and optimize the virtual LLM layer


• Implement effective strategies for token management


• Collaborate with the development team to integrate LLMs into our products


• Regularly monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise


• Propose and implement upgrades and improvements based on the latest AI technologies and trends


• Collaborate cross-functionally to understand business needs and implement AI solutions

Relevant experience

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field


• Experience in AI solution development and deployment


• 1-3+ years of experience in software development building production-grade software, and working with one or more popular deep learning frameworks

Relevant skills

• Strong experience in building, training, and deploying AI models, particularly Large Language Models


• Familiarity with tokenization and token management in the context of LLMs


• Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch


• Understanding of cloud architecture and experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) specifically relating to AI


• Strong programming skills in Python


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The annual salary range for this role is $130,000 – $180,000. Total compensation also includes generous equity and benefits.
