The individual possesses demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, coordinate with internal and external parties, establish priorities and direct the work of others. Typical tasks and deliverables that are executed by or under the supervision of the Senior Lead include site selection, master planning, commissioning and startup, load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, schedules, HAZOP reviews, installation details, equipment and system selection and specification, and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. Project work includes directing design activities for all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration. The Senior Lead understands the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity.The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing oversight for the discipline at a project, office and regional level. They oversee the Mechanical discipline scope of work and manages the discipline budget on all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity, and directs and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals. The Senior Lead Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Project Manager.  ResponsibilitiesDirects and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals.  Coordinates with internal and external parties, manages multiple complex tasks, establishes priorities and directs the work of others.  Works with a Project Manager on proposal development, design task identification, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on advanced level projects.  Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.  Attends external seminars/conferences for professional development.  Develops advanced internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations. Develops narratives, reports and construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.  Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.  Conducts technical and leadership interviews. Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality. Provides mentorship to less experienced Mechanical Engineers and/or Designers. Leads advanced project system design programming and master planning with minimal or no support from Senior Engineer.  Leads a team of mechanical staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering. Provides oversight and technical leadership to other offices and related functions such as Business Development, Technical Advancement and Vertical Markets. Provides industry-level perspective and guidance to frame business strategy in the face of evolving technology or client buying behavior.  QualificationsABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (with a mechanical focus)  Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior Lead position Professional Engineer registration in good standing Expert experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility and piping systems designs Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Advanced experience with using and applying the mechanical/plumbing/fire/building codes Advanced experience using and applying applicable industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA, etc.) Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in Revit  Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory) or Food & Beverage industry experience Advanced knowledge of cGMPs and/or experience with advanced technology industry projects such as R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and/or consumer products LEED, WELL or other sustainable design accredited professional or, experience with sustainable design Proficient with advanced internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers Advanced experience with troubleshooting issues with mechanical systemsAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.CRB is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
