Sales Specialist

We are seeking a driven Cannabis Sales Specialist to build and grow a strong book of business within the Illinois cannabis market. This role is focused on direct-to-retail sales, developing long-term relationships with dispensaries, increasing account penetration, and consistently driving revenue. The ideal candidate is a proven cannabis sales professional with an established understanding of the Illinois market, strong relationships with dispensary buyers and retail leadership, and a demonstrated ability to prospect, open new accounts, and grow existing customers. Key Responsibilities Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of dispensary accounts throughout the Illinois cannabis market. Develop and maintain strong relationships with dispensary owners, purchasing managers, buyers, and retail leadership. Prospect and identify new retail accounts to expand market presence and generate incremental revenue. Build a sustainable book of business through consistent prospecting, relationship development, and account management. Present and sell the company's cannabis products directly to licensed dispensaries. Drive product placement, new product launches, reorders, and increased SKU penetration within existing accounts. Understand each retailer's sales trends, customer preferences, inventory needs, and purchasing cycles to develop effective sales strategies. Negotiate pricing, promotions, product assortments, and account-specific opportunities while protecting company margins. Conduct regular dispensary visits, product presentations, staff education, and buyer meetings. Track sales activity, account performance, pipeline development, and revenue against established goals. Monitor competitor activity, pricing, promotions, product trends, and market conditions across Illinois. Partner with internal teams including marketing, operations, production, and customer service to ensure strong account execution. Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular sales forecasts and market feedback. Represent the company professionally at industry events, dispensary meetings, and other cannabis-related networking opportunities. Ensure all sales activities are conducted in accordance with Illinois cannabis regulations and company policies. Qualifications 3+ years of cannabis sales experience, preferably selling directly to Illinois dispensaries. Proven track record of building a book of business and generating new retail accounts. Established relationships with Illinois dispensary buyers, purchasing teams, and retail operators strongly preferred. Demonstrated success consistently meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets. Strong understanding of the Illinois cannabis retail market, including key operators, purchasing dynamics, product categories, and competitive landscape. Experience selling cannabis flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, concentrates, beverages, or other regulated cannabis products. Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills. Comfortable working independently and managing a territory with significant field activity. Highly organized with strong follow-through and account management skills.
