Public Information Officer

Position Overview:Under limited supervision, serves as a link between the City and the community, media, and other government entities. The PIO supports the Mayor, the City's management team, and staff in formulating internal and external communications. Serves as backup to the Municipal Clerk and processes Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Serves as a member of the Executive Cabinet Team (ECT). Reports to the City Administrator. Qualifications & Requirements:Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or related field and four (4) years progressive responsibility in public or community relations work, with an emphasis on managing external communications and public information programs.Excellent writing and communications skills.Experience as a graphic designer, video producer, or professional writer is a plus.Must have a valid SC driver's license.Relevant full-time experience with a government agency is preferred.Must have or acquire FEMA L105 Public Information Basics certification within 12 months of hire.
