What To Expect:


The Measurement Technician, Goliad Gas Plant will monitor volumes and is the first to identify potential needs for preventative maintenance. Measurement Technicians will maintain field meters to inform the Company and our customers about pipeline flows and pressures.

The Measurement Technician is focused on the following: High BTU meters >1100 BTU and >250 MCFD Online or portable GC's (Plant and Field), and LACT- Lease Automatic Custody Transfer Units (Plant and Field).

What You'll Do:

  • Performing complex calibration, troubleshooting, and repair tasks
  • Handling discrepancy identification and resolution. (L&U, quality shifts, etc.)
  • Training and mentoring of new or less skilled employees
  • Measuring high and low pressure gathering systems
  • Installation, programming, and calibration of Electronic Flow Measurement (EFM) computers
  • Calculating volume rates and size orifice plates to set flow rates
  • Collecting gas and liquid samples
  • Installing, operating, and maintaining gas and liquid sampling systems
  • Installing, programming, maintaining, and calibrating portable and stationary gas chromatographs
  • Scheduling, completing, and witnessing flow tests on wells using open flow orifice meters and portable meter runs
  • Routine inspecting, calibrating, and repairing of meter and associated equipment (meter tube/plates, ultrasonic meter, Coriolis meters, and flow computers)
  • Routine inspecting, maintaining and repairing of communications equipment and sampling system
  • Performing product composition and quality sampling and testing
  • Working autonomously at varying times and in diverse weather conditions, at remote field locations
  • Participating and successfully completing training programs, risk management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations and company policy
  • Reviewing and following procedures as necessary to ensure compliance with all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements
  • Accurately completing documentation such as timesheets, Testit work orders, safe job plans/work permits, and regulatory reports
  • Optimizing work in the most effective (efficient and leveraging priority) manner, in alignment with the Maintenance Work Process (MWP) and within the tenets of S.A.F.E. and Stop Work Authority
  • Maintaining facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices
  • Effectively utilizing tools and test equipment as needed
  • Responding to operational emergencies as a member of an emergency response team
  • Performing and accurately documenting regulatory required inspections
  • Overseeing contractors providing specialty services (Quality Assurance, Quality Control)
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting process controls and regulation
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting condensate Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) equipment
  • Maintaining and operating measurement Orifice meters tube and Ultrasonic tubes
  • Witnessing LACT skid proving
  • Installing and maintaining radio communications on EFM
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting gas quality analyzers
  • Installing and maintaining different types of overpressure protection valves
  • Installing and maintaining portable and stationary O2 analyzers
What You'll Bring - Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • 1 or more years of experience in oil and gas industry or similar field
  • Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
    • Live (or relocate) within 60 miles of the reporting location and handle occasional unexpected call-outs as needed
    • Work overtime as needed
    • Travel regularly between multiple work locations using a company vehicle to support site operations
    • Regularly stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch for durations up to 30 minutes
    • Frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
    • Occasionally exert pulling force of 130 pounds
    • Periodically pull/push doors open
    • Occasionally climb A-frame ladders
    • Work inside plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity
    • Work at times in a loud work environment
What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred:

  • 2 or more year(s) of experience in a gas gathering system or plant in the measurement field programming, calibrating, installing, and repairing EFM computer and gas or liquid chromatographs
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Compensation Range


This position has a base salary range of $70,200 - $123,200.

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
