Policy Coordinator, Bureau of Public Health Clinics

Responsibilities Research federal, state, and city laws and regulations related to BPHC services and maintain a comprehensive compilation of all relevant statutes and regulations. Research and write policy statements, reports, and position papers and present findings to senior leadership. Identify and analyze policy questions, determining which federal, state, and local laws may impact potential policies. Supervise one staff member, the External Affairs and Communications Associate. Collaborate with BPHC staff to develop a legislative and policy agenda focused on improving New Yorkers’ sexual health, tuberculosis treatment, and immunization access. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders both within and outside government, including policy counterparts in the Health Department and other community or government offices. Monitor and report on proposals for legislative and regulatory changes at the federal, state, and city levels that could impact services rendered at BPHC clinics. Work collaboratively with the Office of the General Counsel to advance policy proposals to the City Board of Health or the State legislature. Serve as the liaison to the Agency Office for Intergovernmental Affairs. Develop and maintain a compilation of federal, state, and city laws and regulations related to BPHC services. Write policy statements, reports, and position papers. Preferred Skills Expertise and experience in public health approaches to improving clinical care. Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and city laws and regulations, including Article 28 regulations. Experience working with community-based organizations and other governmental and health‑care organizations. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and strong multi‑tasker. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Creative thinker.
