Respiratory Therapist PRN

Position Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – PRN Night shift, THHBP Plano, TX. Job Summary The RRT PRN has advanced knowledge of the cardiopulmonary system to manage and treat patients. Therapists use various scientific methods, therapies, and techniques to optimize patient care and outcomes. Essential Functions Perform and direct respiratory care services such as oxygen and aerosol therapy, administer inhaled medication, airway clearance, and ventilation, conduct bedside spirometry as ordered, follow established procedures for quality care, and administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergencies. Review physicians’ orders, examine patient test results, and provide therapy based on the patient’s condition. Implement approved protocols as directed by the physician when appropriate. Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy, prioritizing patient needs in a rapidly changing environment. Instruct patients on the use of respiratory care equipment, assess responses, and coach to improve technique. Document all treatments, therapies, and supplies used; file corresponding charges accurately; report outcomes and make recommendations. Adhere to established policies including infection control, isolation, HIPAA, time and attendance, and social media guidelines. Collaborate professionally with other employees, healthcare professionals, and students. Take responsibility and initiative to complete any professional or technical requirements set by leadership. Incorporate continuous quality improvement values in all aspects of clinical care. Key Success Factors General knowledge of respiratory care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications. Ability to read, write, and follow flowchart protocols. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. General computer skills including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree or at least 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification. Experience: Less than 1 year of experience. Certification / License / Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS) – BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer. Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) – Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board Respiratory Care certification.
