Attorney III Re-announced

Job Responsibilities Under limited supervision of the General Counsel, the attorney will review and respond to civil actions, conduct research, draft pleadings, and represent the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services in contested case hearings in the circuit and appellate courts of South Carolina, administrative hearings, Office of Motor Vehicle Hearings, Administrative Law Court, state personnel grievances, grievance committee hearings, and other employment matters as assigned. They will also review cases of misconduct from SC Criminal Justice Academy on behalf of Agency Head; provide legal advice to all levels of employees related to their jobs; provide legal training to agents and other staff; draft and review policies, legislative bills, resolutions, and amendments impacting the Department; advise the Ignition Interlock Device Program; review use of force incidents; draft or review contracts and memoranda of agreement or understanding; serve as primary legal contact for security and privacy issues; and perform other duties upon request of the General Counsel and/or the Deputy Director for Legal Services. Qualifications A Juris Doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney; member of the SC Bar. A Juris Doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school; member of the SC Bar and two years prior professional legal experience.
