About The Role Our firm is known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record as a Prime civil engineering firm. The role supports the Design Team, performing professional engineering work under close supervision on projects such as runway, taxiway, and apron rehabilitation or reconstruction. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities Prepares design computations, plans and related construction documents. Prepares reports, specifications, studies, and permits. Analyzes and interprets a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Assists in analyzing and interpreting engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Prepares quantity calculations and cost estimates. Creates engineering and design documents using computer‑assisted engineering and design software. Performs construction observation and prepares appropriate documentation. Organizes and maintains project files and documentation. Assists in preparation and presentation of technical information to colleagues and clients. Assists Project, Design and/or Office Managers as requested. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university. Minimum of 4 years engineering design experience, with at least two (2) years of relevant airside design experience. Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software application. Experience preparing contract documents, specifications and estimates. Familiarity with FAA standards and advisory circulars. Familiarity with AASHTO and/or similar guidelines. Valid Driver’s License. Proficient communication skills and use of common software applications like Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge and Skills Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Intermediate personal computer skills, including email, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Other Qualifications Assists in developing and mentoring junior staff. Physical Demands The employee is required to sit, talk, and hear; stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, climb, reach, and stoop. Occasional extended or irregular hours, including evenings or weekends. Work in both office and field environments. Standard schedule is a 40‑hour workweek with flexibility for day or night shifts.
