Echo Technician

An Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer) is a specialized medical imaging professional who uses ultrasound technology to assess the structure and function of the heart. They perform echocardiograms to evaluate heart chambers, valves, blood flow, and overall cardiac performance, helping diagnose conditions such as heart disease, valve disorders, and congenital abnormalities. Echo Techs position patients, capture high-quality images, and may assist with stress or transesophageal echocardiography procedures. They work closely with cardiologists to ensure accurate interpretation and follow strict imaging and patient care protocols. Typically trained through accredited sonography programs and certified by organizations such as the ARDMS or CCI, they play a key role in supporting cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment.
