Job Location: Westgate II-Cool Springs - Brentwood, TN 37207 Job Summary As a member of the HMA patient care delivery team, the RN may perform routine clerical, administrative, and clinical duties within the scope allowed under the TN Board of Nursing in order to ensure an operationally efficient, thorough, and positive patient experience. This position reports to the designated Site or Department Manager and may be assigned to a specific clinic/provider and/or float to various clinics/providers based on business needs and must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with physicians, providers, team members, patients, and the general public. RN must be customer focused and driven to grow and to further develop a working culture consistent with HMA’s mission, vision, values, and commitment to high standards of ethical and business conduct and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and third‑party payer requirements. Job Requirements Required Must possess a valid Tennessee State RN license; graduation from an accredited RN program Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification Preferred Experience and/or an understanding of electronic health records (EHR) i.e. Allscripts software, Prior experience in a large multi‑specialty physician practice. Knowledge, skills, and abilities Vital signs Charting Medical terminology Patient focused customer service Medication administration/effects Clinic procedures Patient education Various types of equipment used in examination and treatment procedures Administer IV Infection control guidelines Safety and HIPAA guidelines (patient confidentiality) Sterile techniques and sterileization process, etc. Core Competencies Clinical Gathers, via direct care and/or telephone encounters, clinical data and maintains documentation in the clinical record to ensure accurate tracking of medical treatment Notifies physician/provider immediately of patient’s status, pending lab test results, and any abnormal data/complaints observed Triage patients appropriately and informs physician/provider of issues in a timely manner. Properly prepares and administers medication, allergy serum, immunizations, O₂, and tests as ordered; demonstrates knowledge of dosages, reactions, and side effects; accurately documents in patient record. Conducts CLIA‑waived testing (glucose, UAs, pregnancy, strep, etc.) as ordered; follows established lab protocols. Follows established procedures for collecting, documenting, and handling various specimens and cultures; manages infectious/hazardous waste. Appropriately uses, operates, and troubleshoots equipment such as digital thermometer, EKG, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, spirometer, AED, etc. Assists physician/provider with patient encounter including education, lab tests, reports, and procedures. Provides patient care: clean wounds, assist with suturing, apply sterile dressings, label photographs, etc. Sends prescriptions to pharmacies and documents accurately. Maintains sample medications, enters samples in computer, removes expired medications, and ensures supplies are stocked. Performs all duties in a timely manner to promote patient satisfaction, efficiency, and a collaborative, team‑spirited environment. Administrative Ensures sterile instrument processing is completed timely in accordance with protocol. Schedules patients with physicians, obtains consent forms, pre‑certifications, PA’s, and referrals as required. Tracks initial specialist visits to ensure patients keep appointments and verifies codes for physician charges. Demonstrates knowledge of Occupational Medicine procedures. Tracks diagnostic studies and informs patients of results. Maintains clean work area and adheres to quality control guidelines (medication refrigerator temperature, eye wash checklist, O₂ checklist, code cart maintenance, AED checklist, autoclave checklist). Clerical Answers phones and returns calls/voicemail within 24 hours. Orders supplies/accessories to avoid shortages. Uses copy machine and fax, manages paper trays and ink cartridges. Completes HMA required forms accurately and timely. Complies with HMA policies and accreditation agencies, OSHA, etc. Attends clinic meetings, huddles, and training sessions. Customer Service Displays sensitivity, courtesy, and respect when dealing with patients, team members, and the general public. Ensures customer questions answered and needs addressed.
