Part-Time Associate Veterinarian

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled part‑time Associate Veterinarian to join our team at Burbank Pet Hospital in San Jose, California. The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality veterinary care, communicate effectively with clients, and collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. The position works under the guidance of the Hospital Manager and Regional Director. Burbank Pet Hospital is well equipped with a full in‑house laboratory, digital X‑ray, dental X‑ray, ultrasound, and a dedicated dental suite. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups. Communicate with and educate clients. Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries. Maintain accurate medical records. Prescribe medications and follow controlled substance protocols. Promote teamwork and staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations. Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations. Monitor cases and attend daily rounds when possible. Participate in practice management updates and training. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university. Current State Veterinary License. DEA registration. At least one year of experience in a veterinary practice. Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills. Team‑oriented work style. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care. Client communication skills for rapport and education. Confidence and reassurance when handling pets in stress or pain. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderate physical tasks. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced clinical knowledge in examinations and treatment of various systems. Problem‑solving abilities for hospital management challenges. Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff. Professionalism with constructive feedback. Business acuity in veterinary practice finance and management. Ethics knowledge guiding patient decisions. Commitment to Continuing Education and fostering learning. Pay Range $130,000 – $150,000 USD (full‑time equivalent, part‑time prorated).
