Medical Assistant OpportunitySemmes Murphey is looking for a passionate medical assistant who excels in patient care.In this role, you will work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services and are expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. You'll work closely with the clinic nurse and other clinic personnel to ensure patients or their families are educated and an active participant in their care. Some travel to local and regional out clinics may be required.Key Responsibilities Include:Prepares rooms, equipment and supplies for examination of patients; cleans and sterilizes instrumentsInterviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height), and records information in patient chart; reports abnormal values to nurse and/or providerAssists physician with instruments and materials during examinationsPerforms staple and suture removal and wound care using aseptic techniqueMaintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient, and provides compassionate careHelps coordinate patient referrals by scheduling outside appointments, tests and proceduresCompletes time-sensitive precertification's for tests and proceduresAccurately keys data into computer to maintain office and patient recordsWorks collaboratively with nurse to facilitate efficient clinic workflow and to ensure quality patient care and physician satisfactionComplies with HIPAA and OSHA requirementsRequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalentCompletion of Medical Assistant ProgramCurrent Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designationBLS certificationPREFERREDOne (1) year experience in an outpatient/clinic environmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), electronic medical records (EMR) and other softwareStrong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to write clearly and informatively while editing work for spelling and grammar errors; communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkersAbility to manage difficult or emotional patient situations with empathy, speaking clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situationsCan provide excellent customer service with a high level of confidentiality and discretionCan balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spiritAbility to manage and complete various responsibilities in a timely manner within a fast paced environmentStrong organization skills with attention to detailAdaptable to changes in the work environment, dealing with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected eventsPossesses understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled#SMC
