Medical Assistant - Dermatology

$2000 Sign on Bonus

Full-Time Benefit Eligible

 

Shift : Full Time - 40 Hours - 9A-5:30PM Monday-Friday, Weekends as needed.

Location : New Center One - 3031 W. Grand Blvd Detroit MI 48202

 

GENERAL SUMMARY: As a Medical Assistant in our Dermatology department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, compassionate patient care under the direct supervision of our providers and nursing leadership. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, setting the tone for their clinical experience while performing both administrative and clinical responsibilities that directly support quality patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms, creating a comfortable and professional environment
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories and document patient information accurately in our electronic medical record system
• Measure, record, and communicate vital signs and other clinical assessments
• Prepare patients for dermatological examinations and procedures, ensuring they understand what to expect
• Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile environment
• Perform clinical skills related to ambulatory dermatology care with precision and professionalism
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to address patient needs and workflow challenges
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members to ensure seamless care coordination

Qualifications

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds in healthcare. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• One of the following:
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hours minimum)
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years
• Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Licensed Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience within the past five years
• Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience within the past five years

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Problem-solving mindset and adaptability
• Clinical skills relevant to ambulatory patient care
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience is a plus

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES:

• Current BLS-C certification upon hire, or successful completion by end of orientation
