Research Engineer, Android Security

Responsibilities

• Propose security features and vulnerability-analysis tooling for Samsung smartphones.
• Design and architect Android security features.
• Collaborate with product management to refine proposals and reach agreement with stakeholders.
• Provide expert security guidance to global development teams and ensure security requirements are met.
• Review code for security and promote secure coding practices.
• Monitor mobile-device security features, vulnerability reports, and industry trends.
• Apply AI to security workflows and research.
• Research and innovate through patents and publications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree, or a PhD, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Computer security experience demonstrated through academic publications, academic or industry security experience, vulnerability disclosures such as CVEs, or computer-program analysis tools.
• Holistic understanding of the Android or alternative mobile-phone software stack, including deeper knowledge of Android framework security, access controls, and internals.
• Understanding of smartphone threats including advanced malware, ransomware, and spyware.
• Knowledge of cryptography, secure coding, and exploit mitigations.
• Experience applying AI to security workflows and research.
