Hourly Pay Range $43.69 – $67.72. The hourly pay rate is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist supporting OB services (Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum) Location: Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, IL Full‑Time (0.9 FTE) Hours: Monday‑Friday, Day shifts Required travel to other Endeavour Health hospitals for meetings periodically Overview The RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) is an expert clinician with advanced education and training. They are responsible for applying expert knowledge, advanced assessment skills, and experience to a specific patient population across the system. The CNPS serves as an educator, consultant, and clinical expert, ensuring evidence‑based practices are applied to achieve optimal quality, cost‑effective, patient‑focused outcomes across patient care, nursing staff, and organizational systems. The CNPS interacts with nursing staff to foster an organizational culture of inquiry and mentors nurses to implement evidence‑based practices. What you will do Clinical Expertise Provides clinical nursing expertise in specialty area and advanced nursing skills. Assesses and recommends education needs through observation of direct care and feedback from staff, preceptors, and leadership. Provides staff support and guidance in developing or modifying patients’ plans of nursing care. Identifies professional practice needs of clinical unit staff by systematically collecting and analysing data to evaluate trends and outcomes. Enhances process improvement by identifying opportunities, leading quality initiatives, and implementing change. Serves as a source of information on latest evidence‑based, cost‑effective, safe clinical practices and regulatory standards. Evaluates new evidence and research findings for potential application to practice. Identifies standards of practice using evidence to achieve nurse‑sensitive outcomes. Evaluates outcomes of nursing practice changes. Leads integration, management, and evaluation of technology/products to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and optimal health outcomes. Partners in developing evidence‑based policies, procedures, and protocols; implements sustainable change at the unit level. Participates in Shared Decision‑Making Councils. Education Consults with nursing leadership and educators to establish annual competencies/skill days and other educational needs. Partners with peers on creating and implementing programs and presentations such as just‑in‑time education, presentations, and practical skills in clinical or simulation settings using evidence‑based practice and adult learning theory. Develops and provides nursing education in various venues and methods. Responds to learning needs of the community, employing strategies to promote health and prevent illness and injury. Shares responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development programs and teaching methodologies to improve organizational outcomes. Participates in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of Transition to Practice programs for nurses at all levels. Collaborates with academic nursing partners to support integration of nursing students into the practice environment. Leadership and Mentorship Serves as an influential leader in interprofessional learning, professional growth, and practice change using strategies that encourage adoption of evidence‑based practices and innovations in care delivery. Demonstrates critical thinking and emotional intelligence in decision making, supporting a culture of innovation and clinical excellence. Mentors and coaches clinical nurse educators to advance in nursing education. Fosters a healthy work environment and builds effective teams through coaching and advanced communication skills. Identifies and participates in evidence‑based and nursing research projects. Mentors others in nursing evidence‑based and research projects. Participates in professional nursing organizations, publishes, and disseminates best practices. Advances nursing practice through participation in professional organizations and publications. Creates an accountable nursing care environment that stimulates continuous learning, reflective practice, and ownership. Advocates for nurses to practice to the full extent of their role in health care delivery. What you will need Master’s Degree in Nursing (required); Doctorate preferred. 5+ years of clinical experience in a medical center, hospital, or academic setting. Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois. BLS – American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support. Neonatal Resuscitation – American Heart Association (AHA). Current nursing specialty certification; if none, certification required within one year of assuming role. Adult learner knowledge and expertise. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexibility in work schedule. Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and all members of the interdisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage diverse healthcare audiences. Commitment to teamwork and collaboration. Presentation skills necessary to provide education across the organization. Commitment to continued personal and professional development through seminars, conferences, and certification maintenance.
