Sterilization TechnicianAlamosa Family Medical Center - Alamosa, CO 81101Join Our Team at Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc.We're looking for a detail-oriented Sterilization Technician who is passionate about patient safety and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and infection prevention. This role also offers an opportunity to cross-train and grow within Valley-Wide by gaining experience in front and back-office clinic functions and working toward advancement into a Dental Assistant or Medical Assistant role.What You'll DoSterilization & Infection PreventionClean, prepare, sterilize, and maintain instruments according to established sterilization and infection prevention procedures.Ensure sterilized instruments are properly stored and available for use.Prepare and set up instrument trays and supplies for scheduled procedures prior to patient appointments.Operate and maintain autoclaves, including cleaning and completing required weekly spore testing and documentation.Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and testing.Inventory & Equipment ManagementMaintain appropriate inventory of instruments, trays, sterilization supplies, and related materials.Monitor supplies and equipment to ensure they are available and ready for daily clinic operations.Identify and report damaged instruments, equipment concerns, supply needs, or other issues that may affect sterilization or procedure readiness.Clinic & Patient SupportProvide cross-functional support to clinic operations as needed, including front desk and pod support functions.Utilize the EHR system to support clinic workflows and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient demographic information and records.Assist with patient interactions and other clinic needs as assigned.When appropriately trained and qualified, assist with Medical Assistant (MA) or Dental Assistant (DA) functions within established scope and competency.Participate in cross-training and provide coverage across clinic functions as operational needs arise.Career Growth & DevelopmentParticipate in applicable Valley-Wide training and development programs.Work toward advancement into a Dental Assistant and/or Medical Assistant role.Complete required training programs within the first 18 months of employment.Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth within Valley-Wide.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.Strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing clinic needs.Willingness to participate in cross-training and professional development opportunities.Preferred QualificationsOne year of dental or medical office experience.Previous sterilization experience and/or training.Experience working in a healthcare or clinical environment.Why Join Valley-Wide?We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:Free Health Insurance (additional plan options available)Employer-paid Air Ambulance Coverage (MASA)Employer-paid Basic Life, LTD, STDRetirement MatchHealth, Dental, Vision Insurance, HRA, FSA, DCA, Retirement PlanPaid Leave: Vacation: 10 days accrued per yearSick Leave: 12 days accrued per yearHolidays: 7 days per year + 3 Floating HolidaysEqual Opportunity Employer Statement: Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
