Job Category: Underwriting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range for this position is $109,300.00 – $180,200.00. Salary is determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. Employees are also eligible for performance‑based cash incentive awards. Opportunity Northfield Excess & Surplus (E&S) Brokerage offers a wide array of insurance products to wholesale brokers. The Account Executive Officer (AEO) partners with wholesale brokers to provide primary property and general liability coverage for new and renewal business based on customers’ needs. This role is a technical resource that requires decisive, detail‑oriented decisions and strong relationship building both internally and externally to drive results. Responsibilities Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability. Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross‑selling opportunities. Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with wholesale brokers to market and sell Travelers products, aiming to write and retain accounts in line with our risk appetite. Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills. Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with the Managing Director (MD) to develop regional/group sales plans. May assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives. Perform other duties as assigned. Ideal Candidate Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, particularly in E&S lines. Deep knowledge of E&S products and the local insurance market. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate successfully in difficult situations with agents and brokers. CPCU designation. Four years of underwriting, claim, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience.
