Electrical Engineer (Forensic Investigations)

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations involving electrical systems and equipment failures.

• Perform incident site inspections, collect evidence, and document field conditions.

• Analyze electrical failures, power distribution systems, and equipment performance.

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.

• Prepare accurate, well-documented technical reports with evidence-based conclusions.

• Collaborate with engineers and laboratory personnel to perform testing and failure analysis.

• Reconstruct incidents and determine root causes using engineering principles.

• Prepare technical exhibits and supporting documentation for clients.

• Provide technical support during depositions and legal proceedings when required.

• Maintain professionalism while working in field environments and interacting with clients.

• Travel as needed to conduct site investigations and inspections.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing (preferred).

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering.

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, and power distribution.

• Experience with electrical design for commercial or industrial systems.

• Knowledge of electrical fault analysis, protective devices, and applicable codes and standards.

• Experience or strong interest in forensic engineering, failure analysis, or incident investigations.

• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

• Comfortable presenting technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Willingness to travel and work in various field conditions.

• FAA Pilot License is considered an advantage.
