Staff R&D Systems Engineer

Johnson & Johnson Innovation Center

Staff R&D Systems Engineer position focused on digital and robotic technology for orthopedic medical devices. The role involves requirements management, risk analysis, system architecture development, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Manage requirements across multi-disciplined teams, ensuring proper organization and communication
Perform system-level risk analysis including use risk analysis in regulated environments
Develop system architectures, functional diagrams, and design strategies with cross-functional teams
Analyze mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces for system integration and performance
Support regulatory submissions and ensure compliance with medical device safety standards

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics
Experience with orthopedic medical device product development and design controls
Knowledge of medical device standards including IEC 60601, ISO 14971, and ISO 13485
Experience with surgical navigation, robotics, or operating room digital technology support
Expertise in requirements management and system design verification and validation testing
Graduate degree in engineering preferred; advanced degree or systems engineering background
