This job manages and oversees the daily operations of assigned department(s). It acts as a liaison for staff, physicians, directors and administration on a day‑to‑day basis; independently makes decisions that could seriously affect the division’s or organization’s financial objectives, performance objectives and strategic results; and monitors and maintains operational profitability in all assigned department(s). The role participates in activities that support high‑quality nursing care and ensures adherence to the highest standards of nursing care and practice. Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration or related field. Work Experience Required: High school diploma with 7 years of related healthcare experience including 2 years of supervision or management experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of related healthcare experience including 2 years of supervision or management experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent leadership skills and ability to be self‑directed. Good organizational and time‑management skills. Knowledge of current, applicable federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements and ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards. Job Duties Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through oversight of policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives. Manages, develops, retains, and inspires an engaged workforce. Monitors and distributes monthly or ad hoc operating reports to all providers and reviews information monthly with departmental physician leadership and direct leader. Reviews scheduling telephone service and access data daily, readjusts staffing levels, and provides recommendations to leadership. Determines appropriate staffing levels, interviews, hires, onboards, conducts performance reviews, and works with Human Resources on the progressive discipline of employees within the departmental unit(s). Ensures operational profitability through effective budgeting and resource management. Manages the physical and technological infrastructure and supports organizational structures. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may be classified as Light Work when it requires walking or standing most of the time or reducing material handling. No exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue is required, nor is emergency care or first aid performed. Occupational risk for hazardous medications or waste exists in a healthcare setting, with potential for increased exposure depending on job duties.
