Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead the beverage program for a sophisticated, high-end restaurant in New York City. This is a hands-on leadership position for a hospitality professional with a strong background in NYC fine dining and a deep understanding of elevated beverage service.

The ideal candidate is a polished, hospitality-driven leader who can manage a high-volume bar operation while maintaining exceptional standards for cocktails, spirits, wine, service, and guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Bar & Beverage Operations

• Oversee all daily bar operations, ensuring consistently high standards of service and beverage quality.
• Lead the execution of an elevated cocktail and beverage program.
• Maintain knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, classic cocktails, and current beverage trends.
• Ensure proper preparation, presentation, consistency, and execution of all beverages.
• Manage bar opening, closing, setup, and breakdown procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar at all times.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable liquor laws, health regulations, and company policies.

Team Leadership & Development

• Recruit, train, coach, and develop bartenders, barbacks, and other beverage team members.
• Create a culture of professionalism, hospitality, accountability, and teamwork.
• Establish service standards and ensure consistent execution across every shift.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings, tastings, and ongoing beverage training.
• Provide feedback and performance coaching to strengthen the team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships between the bar, culinary, and front-of-house teams.

Beverage Program & Financial Management

• Manage beverage inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, and organization.
• Monitor beverage costs, labor costs, waste, and product usage.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Maintain appropriate pars and ensure product availability.
• Partner with leadership on pricing, menu development, promotions, and beverage profitability.
• Analyze sales and beverage performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain strong relationships with distributors, suppliers, and beverage partners.

Guest Experience

• Deliver a refined, knowledgeable, and personalized guest experience.
• Engage with guests and ensure service consistently reflects fine-dining standards.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and proactively.
• Support VIP guests, private events, and special occasions as needed.
• Maintain a strong floor presence during peak service periods.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, and senior leadership team.
• Coordinate beverage service with culinary and events teams.
• Participate in menu tastings, beverage pairings, special events, and promotional initiatives.
• Support broader restaurant operations when needed.
• Contribute ideas that elevate the restaurant's beverage program and overall guest experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive bar management or beverage leadership experience.
• NYC fine-dining experience is required.
• Proven experience managing a sophisticated cocktail or beverage program.
• Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and beverage service.
• Experience leading and developing bartending teams.
• Strong understanding of beverage cost, inventory, purchasing, and financial controls.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong hospitality instincts and a polished professional presence.
• Ability to remain composed and effective in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of NYC liquor regulations and responsible alcohol service requirements.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
