Working Hours The Retail Associate typically works from 7 am, completing all shift duties during business hours. General Purpose As a Retail Associate, you will ensure customers have a positive shopping experience. You will greet customers, maintain a clean work area, follow company best practice standards, and support the store’s operational goals. Essential Functions Practice safety first and correct or report unsafe conditions. Maintain awareness on the sales floor, keep egress clear, and report issues to Store Leadership. Show respect and courtesy to all customers and associates, using company recognition programs. Assist customers with merchandising, answer questions, and provide prompt service at the register. Respond to customer service calls immediately and handle customer issues courteously. Represent and support the Ross brand at all times. Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas. Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code. Complete daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized. Expedite new merchandise to the sales floor per monthly presentation guidelines. Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection Specialist policies. Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchant data. Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) and recycle/disposing policies. Handle cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures accurately. Work with a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by executing store best practices. Basic mathematical proficiency common to retail environments. Physical Requirements / ADA Use store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs. Stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of shift time. Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lb. Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies. Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lb. Other qualifications may apply to specific assignments.
