Senior Mechanical Engineer

Pay Range: $59.35hr - $77.03hr Job Overview: Our client aligns capabilities to customer objectives to deliver successful outcomes across Infrastructure, Nuclear, Security & Environmental, Energy, Mining & Metals, and Manufacturing and Technology markets. In this role, the candidate will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. The candidate will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Recommendations provided by the candidate will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met. This position is designated as part-time telework per the global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project site. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Major Responsibilities: Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in the mechanical discipline in a project or staff group. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and/or difficult coordination requirements. Performs work using Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment or work specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations. Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors, and between other groups. Assumes a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks as directed. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to supervisor and/or project management. Supports functional initiatives of developing Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, appropriate Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs), and administrative practices. Mentors designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience or 14+ years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 10+ years of Dry systems experience. In-depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Air Handling Systems, Air Condensing units, Variable Air Volume Units, and Cleanroom Recirculation Air and Exhaust Systems. Ability to identify specific industry and technology experience. Good working knowledge of International standards for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments (ISO 14644 1 through 14), Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST-RP-CC001, 002, 006, 007, 012, 021, 034) for Cleanrooms, and XX Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), SMACNA, and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards for HVAC and Air Handling Units. Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline. Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations. Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved. Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines. Ability to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified. Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
