This position provides technical assistance to local education authorities in the specialty area of culinary applications for school nutrition programs and professionals. May oversee the supervision of certain job assignments in the program. Plans and organizes assigned activities to meet the objectives of the School Nutrition Division.Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing high level support for culinary project development and implementationTraining school nutrition professionals on culinary applications in person and virtuallyEffectively presenting information in a clear manner, demonstrating procedures, and responding to questionsExhibiting knowledge of principles and methods for culinary curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and measuring training impactsReviewing and updating training content for consistency and meets defined standardsAssisting with school nutrition specific culinary programs for studentsInterpreting applicable Federal and State regulations and policiesAnalyzing trends from a variety of program-related sources to improve culinary applicationsCompiling information/data for use in special projects and/or in responding to inquiriesAssisting with the organization of and coordination of training and technical assistance related to the various school nutrition programsAssisting with special projects related to program needs assessmentsInvolved in professional affiliation(s); communicating and maintaining a positive working relationship with the department and with local, state, and federal agencies; and collaborates with state and national allied organizationsAttends and participates in national and state level meetings and professional developmentNote: Statewide travel required.Preferred Qualifications:Completion of a bachelor's degree in culinary arts, food service management, hospitality, or a related field and four years of professional-level experience in school nutrition, education, or quantity food productionCulinary certificationExperience teaching student and/or adult learnersExperience presenting training in person and virtuallyExperience with menu and recipe development for school nutrition programsExperience with USDA programsProfessional-level experience in K-12 public school nutrition programsStrong computer and technology skillsMinimum Qualifications:Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years of related experience OR bachelor's degree in culinary arts or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience OR associate's degree in culinary arts or a related field from an accredited college or university with 10 years of related experience.Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerThe State of Georgia does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or other protected categories in employment or the provision of services.
