Position Summary Huna Totem Corporation is seeking an IT Specialist with a developer emphasis to join our growing IT team. This role will serve as a hands‑on technical resource with a primary focus on front‑end development, internal applications, systems integration, and technology solutions that support business operations. Because our IT team is small, agile, and highly collaborative, the ideal candidate will bring strong technical curiosity and a willingness to work across multiple areas of technology. While development will be a core part of the role, this position may also support networking, systems administration, project coordination, internal user support, security, automation, and other IT initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The IT Specialist will: Design, develop, and maintain internal web applications and software solutions that support business objectives. Work with full‑stack technologies to improve systems, automate processes, and enhance operational efficiency. Manage, maintain, and optimize databases to support data integrity, reporting, and application integration. Provide technical support across IT areas, including workstations, servers, networks, software, and business systems. Research, evaluate, and learn new technologies to solve business and technical challenges. Develop automation and systems integration solutions to streamline IT operations. Support IT security, compliance, and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle and IT environment. Adapt to changing priorities and business needs in a fast‑moving, growth‑oriented organization. Support IT projects across multiple locations, including travel as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support the effectiveness and continued growth of the IT department. Required Qualifications An Associate’s Degree in Information Technologies or at least two years of experience in IT, software development, IT project management, or a related technical field. Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and adjust to shifting priorities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Willingness to travel as needed to support IT projects across company locations. Preferred Qualifications Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Back‑end technologies such as Node.js, Python, or ASP.NET Core. Database management, including SQL or NoSQL databases. Programming, automation, and systems integration. Systems administration, including operating systems and Microsoft 365. Networking, hardware, cybersecurity, or IT infrastructure support. Artificial intelligence tools, data analysis, or emerging technologies. Project management or cross‑functional technology implementation. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Standard office environment. On‑site work is preferred in Juneau or Hoonah, Alaska. Remote work may be considered based on experience and business needs. Travel to project sites may be required. Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 25 pounds.
