Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a general OR position in a short-term acute care hospital, requiring trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred.

Details

Short-term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds

General OR with trauma, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, GYN, urology, ENT, cardiovascular, bariatric, and thoracic case exposure

1:1 patient ratio

Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Weekend shifts required in lieu of weekday shifts as departmental need dictates

On-call required: weekday call 16 hours every 4 weeks and weekend call 24 hours every 4 weeks

No floating between units required for this specific position, though floating between sister facilities may be expected

Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience required

BLS certification required

NBSTSA certification required

ASATT certification preferred

Compact state license must be in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)

Trauma Level I experience preferred

Teaching hospital experience preferred

First assist and trauma work setting experience preferred

Experience with vascular procedures such as AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and endovascular aneurysm repair preferred

Experience with endovascular and hybrid room procedures required

Whipple procedure experience is a hard requirement

VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) experience preferred

Travel experience required

2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Full SSN and DOB required for submission

Additional Information

Support surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties including general, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, GYN, urology, ENT, cardiovascular, bariatric, and thoracic surgery

Maintain aseptic technique and assist with case cart and crash cart preparation

Care for scopes, fiber optic equipment, and high-level disinfection processes

Scrub attire is provided for OR staff

Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of submission; post-offer requests may not be granted

Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel contractor and must not be within 50 miles of the facility

Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius

Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits

Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff

Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
