Senior Design Engineer

About The Opportunity
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join its engineering team at its Grapeland, Texas facility.
This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on the design and development of safe, efficient, and innovative steel joist and decking solutions . The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical expertise, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop steel joist and steel decking systems.
- Provide technical guidance on complex engineering and design challenges.
- Review designs for quality, safety, code compliance, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to deliver customer solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, productivity, and product quality.
- Support and mentor other design professionals as needed.
- Apply engineering standards, codes, and best practices to design projects.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
- Strong experience in structural engineering and/or steel design.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, design practices, and structural systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Preferred:
- Experience with steel joist, decking, structural steel, or metal building systems.
- Familiarity with AISC, SJI, SDI, ASCE, and applicable building codes.
- Experience with engineering/design software and automated design tools.
- Manufacturing environment experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- $120,000-$140,000 Base Salary
- ROA Bonus: Up to 33%
- Company Profit Sharing: Up to 15%
- 3 Weeks PTO
