26-JVBH Coach: Junior Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Hopkinton Public School District | Hopkinton High School – Hopkinton, Massachusetts Job Description TITLE: Junior Varsity Boys’ Ice Hockey Coach TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time; Winter sports season; stipend commensurate with experience (range $3,386–$5,079) LOCATION: High School, Hopkinton, Massachusetts NOTE: Payment of this stipend may be contingent upon the athletic season being officially held, and for a partial season it may be prorated as a percentage of the season that is officially held. The Junior Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Coach works with student‑athletes to teach the fundamentals of the sport and the concept of competing as a member of a team, fostering physical fitness and the continuous development of skills. The coach models exemplary behavior in relations with teammates, opponents, spectators and officials, fostering social, emotional, and physical growth and supporting the overall character development of the student‑athlete. The coach emphasizes continuous improvement, teamwork, diversity, sportsmanship, pride, and work ethic while providing a safe, positive and enjoyable experience. The Junior Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Coach reports to the Athletic Director and the Varsity Boys Ice Hockey Coach. Qualifications MIAA Coaching certificate if first serving as an interscholastic coach after July 1, 2005 Bachelor’s degree in a related field and previous relevant coaching experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience Knowledge of MIAA rules governing athletic activities Ability to motivate student athletes, communicate clearly and effectively, and relate to and work with students of differing athletic abilities Commitment to remain current in knowledge of the sport and its coaching strategies Alternatives to the above qualifications as approved by the Athletic Director in conformity with state and federal statute Duties Supervise and conduct practice and coaching sessions; teach sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and tactics; impart love of the sport and develop healthy self‑image and confidence Condition athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to the team Supervise and provide coaching during matches, meets, contests Observe basic safety guidelines and respond to player injuries with approved first aid Manage uniforms, equipment and school facilities responsibly Assist Varsity Coach as needed Other duties as assigned Application Online is our preferred method of application.
