Educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities Staff Safety (a wearable badge that allows nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern) Differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications and various lead roles (for eligible positions) Malpractice liability insurance Loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department EPIC electronic charting system Type of Opportunity: PRN FTE: 0.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America) Responsibilities Acts as clinical resource by overseeing the delivery of patient care, directs and delegates patient care assignments to home health aides and nursing staff based on acuity of patient care needs and staff capability, and anticipates future needs Maintains clinical competence in providing direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient, family, all other disciplines, primary and secondary physicians, and community resources/programs Demonstrates knowledge, philosophy, and provides support to patients and their families Ensures that patients understand their rights and responsibilities, advanced directives, and the meaning of informed consent during the admission process Assesses and directs patient and family teaching needs and is proficient in the use of return demonstration and teaching aids in the home setting Maintains professional responsibility for knowledge of current nursing research, practice standards, guidelines and protocols, and hospital policies, procedures, and programs to improve patient care quality Maintains proficiency in the use of all equipment used in practice Effectively communicates and assists other members of the nursing team and/or other disciplines Participates in problem solving and conflict resolution to maintain team cohesiveness Performs on-call duties with the ability to triage patients over the phone and visit when needed Directs own educational needs for priority ICD-9 codes and/or diagnoses related to diabetes, wounds/post-surgical, arthritis, newborns, Coumadin dependency, malnutrition/nutrition needs, medication instruction, pain, and symptom control/hospice care Supervises home health aides in compliance with Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations Performs other functions as required Qualifications Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required Academic Preparation: Degree from an accredited academic nursing program (If a program is under conditional status, approval may be granted by system CNO) #J-18808-Ljbffr
