Pay Rate: $23–$27 per hour, depending on experience

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Freight & Shipping Coordinator to join our team in Valencia, CA. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on shipping and freight experience who is looking for an opportunity to take ownership of the freight function and grow into a key operational role.

The successful candidate will be more than an entry-level shipping clerk. We are looking for someone who can learn our operation quickly, coordinate daily freight activity accurately, communicate effectively with carriers and internal teams, and ultimately manage the freight function independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily inbound and outbound freight shipments.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with freight carriers, couriers, and other transportation providers.
• Prepare and process bills of lading, shipping documents, packing lists, and related paperwork.
• Obtain freight quotes and help select appropriate carriers and shipping methods based on cost, service, and delivery requirements.
• Track shipments and proactively follow up on delays, missed pickups, damages, or other freight issues.
• Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, customer service, and other internal departments to ensure shipments move efficiently.
• Verify shipment details, quantities, addresses, and carrier information for accuracy.
• Monitor freight costs and maintain accurate shipping records.
• Assist with freight claims and resolve shipping discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain organized documentation and records for all shipments.
• Develop a strong understanding of company shipping procedures, carrier relationships, and freight requirements.
• Take increasing ownership of the freight process with the goal of independently managing day-to-day freight operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in freight coordination, shipping, logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
• Experience coordinating LTL, FTL, parcel, or other freight shipments.
• Working knowledge of bills of lading, freight quotes, carrier scheduling, and shipment tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Dependable, organized, and able to follow through on responsibilities without constant supervision.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable communicating with freight carriers, drivers, vendors, and internal departments.
• Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and experience working with shipping, ERP, inventory, or transportation systems.
• Ability and willingness to take ownership of the freight function as knowledge of the business develops.
