POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the BCBA, the Behavior Technician is responsible for implementing interventions and support to include, but not limited to, leading small group sessions, one-on-one goal setting, problem-solving, various methods of recognition and reinforcement, and de-escalation. The incumbent collaborates with the student, parents and other school personnel to build and implement a strong support mechanism for the student. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:

Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods. Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer. Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head. Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites. The incumbent collaborates with the student, parents and other school personnel to build and implement a strong support mechanism for the student. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
- Associate's degree in special education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field is required.
- Bachelor's degree in special education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field is preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification through the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) is preferred.
- 3 years of experience working with students with behavior needs is required.
- Must have knowledge of social emotional learning and behavior management in school aged children
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
- Maintains confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to plan and implement short- and long-range goals and objectives
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create trusting relationships
- Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to details
- Provides interventions to identify students to increase pro-social behaviors and reduce challenging behavior including but not limited to small group and one-on-one interventions.
- Conducts small group and one-on-one meetings to improve social-emotional competencies of identified students, as directed.
- Discusses data that is collected/documented with the student, parents, staff members and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assists in determining the impact of the interventions on the student.
- Participates in reviews of skill acquisition and behavior data on an agreed upon schedule.
- Provides feedback from classroom observations to the BCBA and teachers
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
- Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
