Step into a meaningful role supporting students in an educational environment as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position is conveniently located near Stevensville, MD, and is ideal for individuals passionate about making communication accessible to all learners.
In this role, you’ll work directly with a high school student, providing ASL interpreting services to facilitate clear and effective communication throughout the school day. Your valuable skills will help bridge the gap, ensuring the student can fully participate in classes and activities.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or sign language interpreter in a school setting is preferred but not required
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain professionalism in a school environment
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to supporting student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality ASL interpreting for a designated high school student during the academic day (Monday to Friday, 7:45 am – 2:45 pm)
- Ensure accurate, confidential interpretation between students, staff, and teachers as required
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere where the student feels supported and engaged
- Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure student needs are met
