Summary The Web Marketing & Communication Specialist will incorporate a variety of professional skills to market new partnerships that result in generating Parks revenues, new park amenities or operational efficiencies. This position is a key member of the King County Parks Partnership and Business Development Team and acts as section lead for marketing/PR functions geared toward building a solid base of support, credibility and visibility for revenue generating partners. This communications and outreach focused position specializes in cost effective communication strategies to market partnerships, enterprise projects and PR initiatives to generate customer feedback. Hours may be adjusted to cover events, seasonal programs or other services as needed. Job Duties Marketing for revenue generating lines of business Events/Rentals marketing Parks web presence: maintain tech‑savvy website that integrates partner information/brand in a positive way Corporate partnerships: ensure appropriate and consistent use of graphic identity for positive partner visibility Parks signage development and production, both physical and web Community partnership outreach materials Individual Giving “Legacy” donor materials and identity development King County Parks – Your Big Backyard – brand management Photography/videography to build photo library for Parks PR Development of materials for citizen committees and public meetings Parks electronic newsletter development and management (5,000 subscribers) Employee recruitment graphics and marketing Implementation of social media strategy and low cost Buzz/word‑of‑mouth marketing Development and implementation of earned media strategy Creation/marketing of easy citizen feedback Quantify PR assets/impressions for corporate partnership proposals Work with a variety of King County staff in addition to other public, private and non‑profit organizations Coordination on other strategic communications projects geared to leverage Parks mission and goals Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience identifying communication needs and protocol for marketing a large organization/product. Demonstrated experience in working with a creative team on brand management and developing consistent and fun message to customers. Experience working with non-communications staff to integrate project information into user‑friendly web content. Experience training non‑communications staff on basic web updates and small project marketing implementation. Demonstrated experience as a web writer and content developer for online projects including facility marketing, e‑commerce, e‑newsletter, donations/fundraising, viral marketing & social media. Knowledge of current trends in advertising and social media. Experience supporting debut of new business ideas and events; coordinating events with field staff and public affairs consultants. Demonstrated portfolio and ability as photographer and videographer for marketing communications. Demonstrated knowledge in formulation of communication plans and strategies. Ability to integrate graphics and content for communicating a consistent message to a specific audience. Experience creating flyers, mailings, brochures, event web pages, media and event visuals. Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose. Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of staff throughout the division, representatives from other County divisions, and senior executive staff. Strong customer service skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated knowledge in cost estimating and printed materials production. Ability to work in high‑visibility, fast‑paced environment. Experience in the development of web sites with minimal guidance. Demonstrated experience in marketing for project management and fundraising. Demonstrated ability to experiment to find creative solutions. Advanced knowledge of graphic design and development of advertising. Strong written communication/presentation skills, including the ability to make clear and effective presentations. Skill in effectively working in a political environment. Knowledge of Word, Access, Excel, Email and the Internet. Fluent with Adobe GoLive/Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign/PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, WCMS systems. Knowledge of regional environmental, conservation and/or park issues preferred. Demonstrated ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance. Graphic art or communications degree highly desirable. Union Membership This position is not represented. Necessary Special Requirements At the time of appointment the selected candidate must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license or the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner.
