Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in General Liability for its New York, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of defense litigation experience and be licensed to practice in New York courts. Additional state admissions, such as New Jersey, are preferred.

Duties

• Handle a caseload involving substantial litigation defense.
• Draft, prepare, and manage pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct legal research and prepare depositions of parties and experts.
• Review client documents and draft case evaluations and status reports.
• Participate in mediations and court appearances.
• Interact with clients, claim professionals, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of defense litigation experience.
• Licensed to practice in New York courts.
• Additional state admissions preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Bar admission in New York.

Skills

• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of state and federal court procedures.
