Infusion/Allergy Procedure RN

National Jewish Health in the Infusion & Testing Services Department is seeking an Infusion/Allergy Procedure RN to join our team! The selected candidate will perform highly specialized Infusions and allergy testing on patients. The IV infusions include medications such as IVIG, Rituximab, iron, and more. The allergy testing will include, but not limited to drug desensitization & challenges, allergy rush procedures, and food challenges. Successful candidates in this role will display critical thinking and hands-on patient skills by starting IV's, assessing patients during treatments, and quickly responding to reactions that may arise during allergy procedures. You will also be to cross-train to the oncology infusion to learn chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. This position offers a desirable schedule of no nights, holidays or weekends! The selected candidate will be expected to float between the National Jewish Health Main Campus, Northern Hematology-Oncology, and Western Hematology-Oncology locations.

Position Summary: Accurately plans and provides professional nursing care utilizing a systematic approach incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of plan of care. The Inpatient or Procedural RN is responsible and accountable for facilitation and management of care coordination across the healthcare continuum. Utilizes the nursing process to work with interdisciplinary teams to provide safe and personalized care. Demonstrates core competencies in their area of practice. The Inpatient/Procedural RN assists in providing crisis intervention, providing answering service coverage, interdepartmental problem-solving, and ensuring safe care.

Essential Duties:

1. Collects and analyzes pertinent data and information relative to the patient's needs. Demonstrates proficient, skillful, and rapid assessment of patient problems and needs in the inpatient or procedural areas.
2. Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems or issues and communicates concerns to the provider.
3. Identifies expected and/or desired outcomes in a plan of care individualized for a specific patient and ensures the plan of care reflects the cultural, spiritual, intellectual, age, educational, and psychosocial differences of patient.
4. Collaborates with providers and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth and efficient inpatient or procedural workflows.
5. Provides professional nursing care exercising independent judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate.
6. Facilitates appropriate medical care, carries out provider orders, and documents care in EMR.
7. Provides patient education using methods and approaches recognizing the specific needs and concerns of the individual patient.
8. Completes and maintains competence in assigned area.
9. Participates in projects, activities, committees, related to nursing and health care in clinical and organizational settings.
10. Participates in evidenced based practice and research strategies to advance inpatient or procedural nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.
11. Participates as a member of the hospital's Code Blue response team as needed.

Other Duties:

1. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Functions as a preceptor or Clinical House Supervisor as assigned.
2. May oversee and guide the work of other nursing and support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education: Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing required, BSN preferred.
2. Work Experience: None
3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Current BLS certification required upon hire. ACLS and PALS certifications required within 45 days of hire. ONS Certification required within 6 months of hire for Infusion.

Salary Range: $42.00
