UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSHYBRID work opportunity - Position is primarily remote, but will require onsite work at Fred Hutch Cancer Center for projects15 days of vacation your first year – Also, 12 days of sick time, 1 personal holiday, and 11 paid holidays each year100% matching, 100% immediately vesting 403(b)PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESPortfolio Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver programs and projects that span Fred Hutch and UW Medicine ITS business units. The Portfolio Manager works closely with senior leadership, project team managers and consultants, user representatives, other ITS teams, and UW Medicine faculty and staff to:Initiate projectsEnsure project deliverables and outcomesAnalyze business processes and dataManager portfolio communications, including dashboards and reportsManage resources, schedules, scope, financials, and approach throughout the full project life cycleIdentify and resolve issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project deliveryPlan and direct the configuration and functional testingRepresent the service-line leaders in meetings, communications, and decision-making around portfolio executionProvide tactical guidance to service-line leaders based on portfolio executionFacilitate user requirements and project implementationDevelop and maintain project plans, schedules, and other project management documentsSupport the operational departments to improve associated systemsREQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in a healthcare-oriented profession, a technology field, a business-related field, or other discipline that demonstrates analytical or communications abilities, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience8+ years of overall experience to include the below:8+ years of experience leading, managing, and coaching technology and/or business professionals in progressively more complicated vendor-packaged system deployment and/or process improvement projects. Progressive, relevant experience related to IT portfolio, program, and project management. This must include demonstrated experience serving a single service-lineDemonstrated experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external constituents, while holding all teams accountable for performanceDemonstrated leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills including the ability to lead multiple business and technology organizations/business unitsExperience maintaining relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectivesDemonstrated experience effectively working with multiple, diverse stakeholders in a complex project environment within a cross-functional matrix environment. Experience gaining buy-in from executives, sponsors, team members, stakeholders and peersProven ability to make independent administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to staffDemonstrated experience managing project work and/or work of others within an established standard project lifecycle framework and cognizant of budgetary and resource constraintsStrong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated written and oral communication skills with technical staff, non-technical staff, and all levels of managementStrong experience in Project Methodologies (e.g., Agile, SCRUM, SDLC/Waterfall)Strong experience with Organization Change Management (e.g., PROSCI, Kotter, McKinsey, etc.)Prior experience in a role with significant customer service componentExperience negotiating vendor contracts and holding vendors accountable to SOWsExperience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessaryExperience researching best practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data and using continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve resultsTechnically competent with various software programs including MS Office tools (e.g., Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook)ABOUT UW MEDICINE – WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHERUW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
