City/State:White Plains, New YorkDepartment:PharmacyWork Shift:EveningWork Days:EVENINGS VARYScheduled Hours:1 PM-9 PM, 3 PM-11 PMScheduled Daily Hours:7.5 HOURSHourly Rate/Range:$26.00-$29.00Sign-On Bonus:n/aFor positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.JOB SUMMARY : Under direction of the Director of Pharmacy, or supervisor designee, the Pharmacy Technician provides support to all aspects of patient care and medication management as it relates to pharmacy services at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital (BRH).WORK PERFORMED :Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality management program and infection control standards.Restocking and managing inventory within the Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)Preparing IV’s and oral products under the supervision of a pharmacistRe-stocking Medication in proper locations throughout BRHPrepackaging bulk medications to include labeling, under the supervision of a pharmacistPreparing and delivering (when appropriate) floor stock medications as requestedPackaging unit dose, oral solid and liquids and entering labels with the unit-dose re-packaging program.Daily collection of discontinued medications from the floors and return to stock in Pharmacy and/or removing expired /discontinued returned medication.Exchanges medication carts on Cart-change days and is responsible for sanitizing the cassettes monthly, or more frequently, if needed.Deliver medications in medication rooms, ADCs, and refrigerators.Remove and return to Pharmacy all medication in the Pharmacy Returns Bin and Refrigerator located in Medication Rooms and throughout patient care areas.Remove expired, or about to expire, medications throughout BRH.Load, unload, pend, and other responsibilities related to ADC medication management.Perform missing medication and other responsibilities related to EMR medication management.Procure, purchase, and return medications as needed, when assigned, per pharmacy procedures.Performs all duties and actions assigned by the Pharmacist or Director of PharmacyDemonstrates behaviors with organization’s mission and goals.Possesses knowledge of information related to material safety data sheets relevant to job function.Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.Possesses knowledge of incident reporting procedures and works to create a model of patient safety through documenting events, when appropriate.Attends meetings as required.Possesses knowledge of the department’s quality improvement initiatives.Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.Completes mandatory annual learning within deadline.Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.Performs other job related duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : High School Diploma. Must have current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certificate along with New York State registration.
