Vascular TechnologistThe Vascular Technologist is a diagnostic medical sonography professional who is qualified by professional credentialing and academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures.Job Responsibilities:Obtains and records pertinent histories from patients, charts and computerized ultrasound reporting system.Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.Uses independent judgment during sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.Completes exam data entry for each patient in computerized reporting system.Assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients within the sonographers care.Maintains a procedure log per policy.Completes billing process as indicated.Participates in the maintenance of accreditation.Maintains a clean work environment. Follows infection control, regulatory and organization regulations and policies.Cleans probes according to manufacturers' instructions after each patient, and wipes down machines after last patient of the day.Stocks exam rooms and informs supervision when stock items run low.Employee aids in the orientation of new staff, may precept students.Performs other related duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.Preferred: Active certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the specialty (ies) as appropriate (or within one year of employment or transfer).
